Oncology massage is the adaptation of massage to safely nurture the body, mind and spirit of anyone dealing with cancer.  I consider it an honor to take part in a patient’s care, as they navigate cancer treatment, and provide a gentle and nurturing touch when other aspects of treatment may feel uncomfortable and intrusive.  Whether you are in need of massage for deep relaxation or more specific reasons you have that option at Smith Integrative Oncology. I will meet you where you are.
Oncology massage is the adaptation of massage to safely nurture the body, mind and spirit of anyone dealing with cancer.
Studies have shown that massage can offer health benefits for those with cancer, particularly in the areas of anxiety, nausea, pain, fatigue and immune function. I specialize in orthopedic, restorative and structural massage and offer Manual Lymphatic Drainage. In my work with breast cancer patients, I focus on softening scar tissue or fascia that has tightened as a result of surgery and/or radiation. I also offer Neurokinetic Therapy, a technique that utilizes gentle muscle testing to unravel muscular imbalances.   If you find that bodywork helps you relax, I can work with you during your chemotherapy appointment, or you can set an appointment for a different day.  My approach is to make sure I understand you and what massage focus helps you heal best. From there, I will customize a bodywork session based on your immediate as well as ongoing needs. I value working closely with Garrett and the team to provide truly integrated care.
